Running Through Super Mario World
For me, it all started with Super Mario World on Super Nintendo. I began playing this game as a little kid, and if I played it today, I would be just as good. I literally run through that game lol non-stop. I hold down the Y button the whole time. If you can relate, then these next jokes should hit home too.
1. If Only Real Life Had a Y Button
“Imagine if there was a Y button to help us run through everyday tasks just like running through Super Mario World. Stuff like cleaning the house would no longer feel like a chore. We could just speed right through it… Wait, ‘speed‘ right through it? Smh, guess there’s a Y button after all.”
2. Relationship Advice
“Holding down the Y button in Super Mario World taught me a lesson about commitment. No matter how treacherous the path, we run through it together, full speed ahead!”
3. Morning Power-ups
“In Super Mario World, grabbing a feather makes you super. In real life, grabbing a coffee has about the same effect. Now, if only I could find a cape…”
4. Life’s Consequences
“Unlike in Super Mario World, when you fall in real life, there’s no Yoshi to sacrifice so you can make it to safety… Unless you’re a narcissist!”
5. The Unreliable Friend
“Yoshi really is the reason for our trust issues, isn’t he? Think about it… best buddies while everything is going well, but hit one turtle shell and look who’s bolting. Sure, you could catch him, but what’s the point?”
6. Real Life Reflections
“Running non-stop through Super Mario World and taking shortcuts to get straight to Bowser’s Castle developed a pattern of habits in me. I now seem to handle responsibilities and deadlines with the same finesse.”
7. Life’s Checkpoints
“I wish life had save points like Super Mario World. This relationship is not working out. Clearly, this man was a bad choice. Just jump back to your last save point and try again… like it never happened.”
8. One Thing That Is Like Real Life
“Remember how Super Mario World didn’t hold your hand with a tutorial? It just threw you in. Kinda like real life. Just learning as we go. Now, if only I could find a secret hideout with unlimited resources…”
My First Playstation Experience Was Traumatizing
I’ll never forget my first experience with PlayStation. Up until that moment, my gaming life was comfortably cradled in the hands of Nintendo 64, with its friendly controller and the relatively straightforward adventures it offered. But this day was different. I was at my friend’s house, and we were about to embark on a journey neither of us were truly prepared for – Resident Evil.
The game started, and the eerie ambiance of that mansion began to seep into the room. I remember the dim lighting of my friend’s living room, how it mirrored the shadows lurking in the corners of the game, setting the perfect stage for what was to come. We were kids, yes, but in that moment, ready to face whatever pixelated horrors awaited us. Or so we thought.
The pivotal moment came early on – our first encounter with a zombie. The scene is etched in my memory: the slow pan of the camera, the reveal of the creature feasting, and then its dead, empty gaze locking onto ours. It was a moment straight out of a horror movie, except we were in control. Or, again, so we thought.
In a panic, I tried to maneuver the character to safety, but there was one big problem – this was my first time using the new PlayStation controller that had two analog sticks. Trying to move was like trying to walk with your shoes tied together. My fingers fumbled, time was running out!
And then it happened – the zombie reached us. We both screamed! Her parents came running down the hall! It was a traumatizing moment I’ll never forget. Nothing says teamwork like screaming together while being eaten by the first zombie in Resident Evil. It was a bonding experience. The zombie brought us together, right before tearing us apart.
